There are a number of arrangements in place to deal with ice and maintain a safe environment on the estate.

Site staff or contractors will make sure that grit is spread in problem spots throughout the working day. Priority is usually given to gritting main entrances to buildings, steps and then major pedestrian pathways. The weather forecast is monitored and when frost or snow is predicted on the day before, staff or contractors will lay down grit as soon as possible.

The estate staff will try to clear as much snow as possible in the worst-affected areas but limited resources do not allow them to provide a general snow-clearing service.
